I think I’ve been converted!
ENGLISHMAN
I am an Englishman, I suppose… However I’ve lived in Morocco, Cyprus, Switzerland, Canada and Japan etc… Over the past ten years I’ve spent less than a month of my life in my blessed old Blighty. I don’t think I know where home is anymore… Mind you, as they say, home is where you hang your hat. Since I’ve been living in Morocco though my exposure to argan oil has really switched me over.
OIL LOVE
I’m a big lover of food and if you ask me what is my favourite cuisine, I’m an Englishman after all so sitting on the fence is a famous past time for me…so I tend to sit on the fence between the cuisines of Asia and the Mediterranean. I’ve had a fond relationship for many years with extra virgin olive oil though…. You can just call me the “Olive oil Guru” if you like…. But as much as I love my olive oil, over time something has interfered with this cherished relationship… I suppose you could now call it a love triangle. The new intruder comes in the form of “Moroccan liquid gold” yes you guessed it (argan oil).
LIQUID GOLD
In recent years, an incredible oil from Morocco called Argan oil (Argania spinosa) has become such a hot commodity that a New York Times editorial termed it “liquid gold.”
NEW LOVE
I still love my olive oil dearly… however I can tell you that this new love for argan oil is truly divine. For me, the pure essence of simplicity is a ripe avocado, freshly squeezed lemon juice, coarse sea salt and good quality argan oil. This combination is so delightful… The flavours are so sexy that I would gladly sell my soul for it. Actually I suppose that at the end of my days when I die and hopefully float upwards heaven bound, I imagine that I will discover vast quantities of ripe avocados and argan oil and savor them for all of eternity.
SIMPLICITY
The simplicity of this combination is pure magic I can tell you, as much as I still love my olive oil… when it becomes avocado o’clock… the decision is easy for me, my hand reaches out for the bottle of argan oil and my precious olive oil is temporarily abandoned.
SO HEALTHY
Since its meteoric climb in popularity, the benefits of argan oil have been the subject of numerous research studies. The proven benefits of this honey-colored substance with a hazelnut flavor are quite impressive. So far, studies indicate that Argan oil can prevent prostate cancer, lower cholesterol, and prevent or reverse various other diseases. When applied to the skin, pure Argan oil benefits prove to be both healing and anti-aging. The active natural ingredients in argan oil are impressive, and include…
• Tocopherols
• Squalene
• Carotenes
• Sterols
• Phenolic antioxidants
Scientific research suggests that culinary Argan oil can help to…
• Lower cholesterol
•Improve circulation
• Stabilize blood sugar
• Ease pain from rheumatism and arthritis
• Strengthen the body’s immune system
• Prevent various types of cancer
• Reducing the body’s resistance to insulin, helping treat diabetes
• Protecting the body from cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases
All I can say is…. Get converted!
and don’t forget…. at avocado o’clock reach your hand out for a bottle of argan oil.
After reading this you most probably think that I hold shares in the Moroccan association of argan oil producers, but I can assure you that it is simply a relationship of love…
Wow. Where can I buy ths in the states? I’ve heard of it but mostly on cooking shows like Ming Tsai’. I love hazelnuts and the health benefits seem to be off the charts. How does it affect triglyceride levels in the body? If you know let me know. I will research it when I have time. I once lauded the virtues of coconut oil then found while it does seem to reverse dementia, it makes triglycerides levels soar, which can lead to heart attacks. Everything in moderation I suppose. Thanks! Love this page! Still smile at your flames inthe avatar. 🙂 Jeanette

In this post, on the picture … you can see a reflection in the spoon.
Or is it necessary to enjoy avocados while in your underwear? =P

I never knew you could use Argan Oil for anything else other than hair and skin! Didn’t know you could cook with it! What would you like the flavour to?
